The BrueryOude Tart

This Flemish red really shows off the skill behind sour beers and blending that The Bruery can do.  Oh, and it’s been aged in wine barrels to add a little extra kick.

Monkish BrewingFeminist Tripel

I am a big fan of this Torrance brewery.  I don’t have a lot of growlers but I have one from here.  And the use of hibiscus which could overpower other beers is very well done here.

Beachwood BrewingUno Belgian Single

Beachwood rightly gets strong praise but one beer that I would like to see in bottles is their Belgian Single. I love the name and love the simple pleasure of this beer in a style that we don’t see that often.

Sante Adairius Rustic AlesSaison Bernice

A perfect 100 on the Ratebeer website should tell you all you need to know about this small brewery in Capitola. (Google it).  This beer is on my most-wanted list.

Russian River BrewingNoble Experiment Blonde

You knew the Santa Rosa brewery would be on the list, but I want to highlight a beer that marries both their Belgian sensibility and their hoppy side and this “experimental” blonde fits the bill. Noble Experiment Blonde has a hoppy kick that doesn’t take away the Belgian farmhouse notes. A ton of flavor at a teeny-tiny 3.88% ABV.

Firestone Walker: Beer Blogger Trip aka #LA2FW2 - LA Beer Fan

[…] the wine industry vs. the food industry.  It was great.  I also was able to share a bottle of our Belgian Dark Strong “Dark Horse” that I had added Brett Bruxellenes to back in January.  I bottled up 3 gallons of that beer in […]

Thank you so much for having Dark Horse on your 10 Great California Belgian-Style Ales list! We had a blast working with Brian and Kingsley. The timing of the list couldn’t be better – We have been saving the last keg of Dark Horse for our 4th Anniversary week, and we’re putting it on tap this Sunday, January 19th, as all taps go to Ladyface ales.
Again, thanks from everyone at Ladyface!
