Observatory Los Angeles

Griffith Observatory rises above Los Feliz, home to some of L.A.'s best beer destinations.

To add a twist to this list of craft beer destinations in Echo Park, Silver Lake and Los Feliz, I purposefully left off two spots. Where do Los Angeles craft beer fans go when it comes to this section of the city? Add your favorite in the Comments.

1. Mohawk Bend
All I have to point to is the insane amount of taps. And there are no fillers among the 71. You want malty? They have it. Belgian style? Yup, that too. And you can get the full line from a little brewery called Golden Road as well.

What I would order here: Something from their out-of-state brewery of the month guest taps.

2. Sunset Beer Co.

They have recently upped their tap total to 12 but what I love is that I can buy singles and not have to get full six-packs. Mix and match is fun.  And they must have some secret beer contacts.  They get beer from all over.  Case in point, Adelbert beer from Austin, Texas.

What I would order here: L.A. Aleworks beers if they have one.

3. Gobi Mongolian BBQ CLOSED

You can eat really well at this Sunset Boulevard eatery that specializes in the Mongolian “cookin’ right in front of you on a big circular surface” Build your own bowl and they have a small but strong tap list to drink from while watching your food being cooked.

What I would order here: AleSmith IPA

4. Cap’n Cork

It might look like a typical L.A. liquor store but this is a great bottle shop. I have found many a beer-y gem at this spot that I see nowhere else.  Their beers hug the wall and are in coolers only and they have their own parking, which is very helpful in Los Feliz.

What I would buy here: Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA
