Observatory Los Angeles

Griffith Observatory rises above Los Feliz, home to some of L.A.'s best beer destinations.

To add a twist to this list of craft beer destinations in Echo Park, Silver Lake and Los Feliz, I purposefully left off two spots. Where do Los Angeles craft beer fans go when it comes to this section of the city? Add your favorite in the Comments.

5. El Prado

Perfect for those who like music and wine in addition to craft beer. Or if you have taken your significant other to a tour of one too many breweries.  The vibe and decoration are warm and inviting and make for a good spot to lounge with a beer.  Plus they spin vinyl if you are also an LP geek in addition to a beer geek.

What I would order here: something barrel aged would be good here

6. Red Lion Tavern

This is old school. You want German beer? This is the place to go. It should be required for every beer geek to visit at least once.  If for no other reason than to get a malty doppelbock or a crisp Kolsch instead of yet another hop bomb.  Plus it fun wandering the warren of rooms in this old building.

What I would order here: Bitburger Pilsner

7. 1642 Beer and Wine

Much like El Prado, 1642 has a great relaxed atmosphere where you can find live music while sipping from one of their four carefully curated taps.  If you are in the mood for tamales and beer and want to escape from bars with more TVs than taps this is the place.

What I would order here: Sudwerk Lager

8. Hyperion Public

On a busy stretch of Hyperion, this two-level restaurant and bar offers a tight list and a darkened L.A. Noir upper bar to conduct your business deals. Legit or not.

What I would order here: Allagash White
