Catch Restaurant is an Anaheim fixture known for its urban feel, steaks, seafood and chops. Proprietor Joe Manzella plans to reopen Catch on the ground floor of Avalon Anaheim Stadium, a mixed-use development within walking distance of Angel Stadium, Honda Center and The Grove of Anaheim. “I loved the old free-standing Catch site, but our new location could not be closer to the incredible sports and entertainment nucleus that makes Anaheim a mecca to all of Orange County,” said Manzella. The new space will encompass 10,300 square feet, seat 300 and feature a bar shaped like home plate on a baseball diamond.
AUGUST 3, 2009 UPDATE:
Construction begins this week on Catch. TAPS brewmaster Victor Novak will oversee the restaurant’s 20 taps, featuring three TAPS kegs and 17 guest taps. TAPS Culinary Director Tom Hope is working with Chris Hutton of Blue Coral and Fleming’s on the menu.
In related news, Joe and Michelle Manzella are considering the old Fox Sports Grill in Irvine. Also, TAPS’ landlord in Brea would like to open an adjacent Latin fusion restaurant in a former furniture store, complete with a rooftop patio.
