Yesterday, Krista Simmons at Metromix got the scoop on Chef Kris Morningstar leaving CASA.
CASA owner Mario Del Pero released a statement today, saying: “We’re very grateful to Kris for helping to create the CASA concept and open the restaurant. Now that CASA is up and running smoothly we wish him well moving forward.”
No word yet on who Del Pero will find to replace Morningstar. According to a CASA representative, he has a potential chef in mind, but nothing is finalized. Morningstar will remain at CASA for the next couple months to serve as a consultant and help with the transition. The menu will remain the same for now.
As for Morningstar’s future, Simmons revealed that the chef will work with George Abou-Daoud (The Bowery, Delancey, Mission Cantina, Tamarind Ave. Deli) on two Hollywood projects: “One will be a European-style gourmet artisan shop, and the other will be a full-service wine-centric restaurant that delivers to a discerning clientele.”
