Looks like Seven Grand, The Edison, Comme Ca and The Hungry Cat have competition for the city’s cocktail crown. At the Edison Beer soiree on Monday night, mixologist Damian Windsor (previously of Gordon Ramsay at The London, Seven Grand and The Hungry Cat) said he recently wrote a cocktail menu for Delux. No wonder my friends ordered four cocktails apiece at last Friday’s grand opening. Windsor will be mixing the cocktails one night a week. When he’s not behind the green marble bar, he said customers are still in good hands, since his training sessions went silky-smooth. Here’s the cocktail menu, with names from Delux co-owner Kristofer Keith:

THE GINGER BLACK
J. Walker Black with Fresh Lime Juice, Fresh Liquefied Ginger,
Top with Club Soda and Garnish with Lemon Wedge

THE POM NOIR
Hennessy VS with Fresh Lemon Juice, Grand Marnier,
Pomegranate Syrup and Garnish with Mint Sprig

AGAVE SUN
Don Julio Añejo Tequila with Large Orange Peels,
2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters and Garnish with Lemon Peel

GARNET
Martin Millers Westbourne Strength Gin with Luxardo Maraschino
Liqueur, Mint Sprig, Minted Simple Syrup, Top up with Soda
Water and Drizzle with Syrup and Garnish with Mint Sprig

PINEAPPLE SUNDOWN
Barsol Italia Pisco with Mata Hari Absinthe Blanche, White Grapes
Mint Sprig, Grape Juice, Garnish with Mint Sprig

SPICY DOM
Don julio Blanco with Heaping Barspoon of Agave Nectar,
Fresh Lime Juice, Mandarine/ Tangerine Segments
1 Barspoon Pickled Jalapeño to taste and Cucumber Foam
Garnish with Cucumber Slice

FLAPPER JACK
Lairds 100 proof Applejack with Cranberry Juice, Fresh Lemon Juice
Blackberries and Garnish with Blackberries on a pick

BASILBERRY
Ciroc Vodka with 4 Strawberries, Basil Leaves, Lemon Juice
Club Soda to top, Aceto Balsamic Reduction & Sugar for rim
Garnish with Basil Sprig

Windsor is still in discussions to head the bar next to Largo at the former home of the Coronet Theatre. The owners still don’t have a name yet, and haven’t set an opening date.

LA’s a bit behind NY and SF in the fine/unique cocktail movement, but it’s definitely catching up.
