Daniel Mattern and pastry chef partner Roxana Jullapat, who opened Cooks County with Claudio Blotta and Adria Tennor Blotta, clearly have a handle on seasonal California comfort food. One of their latest collaborations came together seamlessly on my plate at lunch, with Mattern providing premium ingredients to fill her house-baked bread. For the Grilled Pork Loin Sandwich ($13), the lean meat arrived plenty juicy with crisp shaved fennel, arugula, spicy Calabrian chilies, creamy aioli and subtly sweet apricot chutney on crusty house baked bread, served with a generously-dressed arugula and radicchio salad.
Dose of Vitamin P spotlights my favorite pork dish from the previous week.

Looks delicious.
Did not know they were open for lunch, not that I am in that area frequently at that time of day.
Maybe that needs to change!

carter,
Cooks County’s pork loin sandwich would be worth a special trip over the hill for lunch. So would Roxana’s desserts.
