Upstairs 2 Lobster BLT [CLOSED]

Lobster Los Angeles

Lobster may be one of the only ways to improve upon a BLT.

Since 2006, Upstairs 2 has become synonymous with wine, which is no surprise given the restaurant’s provenance. After all, it’s located directly above the Wine House, Bill Knight’s long-respected shop near the 405. Wine is the primary focus, but Upstairs 2 executive chef Todd Barrie also manages to contribute some interesting small plates. On a recent visit, no plate was better than the Lobster BLT.

Upstairs 2’s open-faced take on the super-charged BLT sandwich involves a supple square of toasted brioche slathered with house-made mayo and topped with crispy bacon strips and juicy tomato slices. What’s one thing that could improve a bacon experience? If you guessed plump, fresh-pulled lobster meat, that’s an acceptable answer. Tangled frisée and a judicious application of ingredients helped to ensure that the sandwich maintained balance.

Dose of Vitamin P spotlights my favorite pork dish from the previous week.

Wow – sounds great – like a gussied up lobster roll. Is it always available?

Diana,

The lobster BLT actually wasn’t very gussy, and yes, it appears on the regular menu at Upstairs 2.
