Pedalers Fork Second Gear

Cocktail Los Angeles

Pedalers Fork is a new, multi-faceted restaurant in Old Town Calabasas from owners Robbie Schaeffer and Tim Rettele that combines a contemporary, eco-friendly design with seasonal, market-driven food, house-roasted 10 Speed Coffee, and a bike repair shop. That would probably be enough selling points for most people, and certainly most cyclists, but what came as a surprise at last week’s preview was their commitment to cocktails. Tello Demarest Liquid Assets, a consulting company that combines the considerable talents of Marcos Tello and Aidan Demarest, oversaw the construction of the cocktail menu, which cleverly considers house-roasted coffee in more than one cocktail.

Pedalers Fork, at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains, is by no means the provenance of fixies, so of course they’d offer more than one intoxicating gear. My Second Gear cocktail certainly got my mind racing thanks to the spirit forward mix of rye, coffee infused Punt e Mes, Maraschino, and coffee bean float. Coffee + Alcohol can often raise red flags, but after that first sip, there was no stopping me.
