Picca Peach Don’t Kill My Vibe Cocktail [CLOSED]

Cocktail Los Angeles

Julian Cox, the talented bartender who oversees more bar programs than there are days in the week, created a Peach Don’t Kill My Vibe cocktail at Picca for summer.

I was surprised to see Cox behind Picca’s bar and not in New Orleans at Tales of the Cocktail like the rest of his L.A. compatriots. No surprise, he was in town to help open another bar, this time in Hollywood. After discussing his latest creations, I ordered one of his seasonal favorites: Peach Don’t Kill My Vibe ($12) a shaken Encanto Pisco based cocktail with a lingering tang that incorporated Manzanilla Sherry, crème de paiche, lemon juice, evaporated cane sugar and Angostura bitters, served in a coupe with a garnish of fresh-sliced peaches leaning against the rim of the glass.

Kendrick Lamar, clearly a man of letters, sang in his catchy hit song, “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe”…

I got my drink, I got my music
I would share it but today I’m yelling
Bitch don’t kill my vibe

If Lamar was holding the drink inspired by his lyrics, I get the sense he wouldn’t share, but I was happy to pass my coupe to the left.
