Greg Link and his AU Group partner are shooting to open Essex on March 18 near Hollywood & Highland. On a walkthrough of the former Parc space last Friday, Spacecraft designer Kristofer Keith described the concept as a modern interpretation of a Boston-style pub. Toward that end, Keith built an industrial welded steel bar, which he equated to a bridge or elevated train truss. Once completed, the bar will feature an oak top, black stools and eight plasmas, “but it’s not a sports bar.” The wall will be lined with high-top banquettes.

The adjacent room will house the entrance, both black and natural brick walls and oversized chalkboard menus. The room will also feature windows that offer views of sidewalk tables.
