Every day from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM, Fraiche is offering “Gourmet Hour,” featuring $5 food, $4 cocktails and wines by the glass and $3 draught beers. Chef Jason Travi has constructed a menu that includes shrimp cocktail, meatball sliders, arancini, cheese fondue and French fries. On draught, expect Ommegang Abbey, Moretti, The Bruery’s Black Orchard and Paulaner. If you’re interested in wine, you’ll find $4 glasses of 2006 Matrot Chardonnay, 2006 Canaletto Muller Thurgau, 2005 Conti Contini Sangiovese and 2003 St. Emilion Cabernet Blend.

ya know.. LAST year… we got turned away twice for late dessert-only seating…
THIS year… welp.. how the tides have changed.
Fraiche was near the pinnacle of the L.A. dining scene last year after their appearance in the NY Times, but even popular restaurants have to become more accommodating to keep pace in this economy.
I just love how proud restaurants are getting humbled. Craft “turns” into Craftbar (really just small plates from the scraps of the main restaurant, come on). Fraiche beckons happy hour revelers. What’s next, $20 three course tasting menus? (..xiomara anyone?..)
