Matt, I belive that Anisette's original dishes was simply the frisee salad and duck confit as separate dishes.

Sounds like a good method for avoiding lines. I was actually in Portland during Gold Standard, but Matthew represented Food GPS in style. Hope you're doing well.

Hi Josh!

sorry that I missed you at this event! It was crazy in there! I arrived at 2:45 and skipped the LOOOONG line down the street as my friend is an auction donor so we were able to sneak in. Glad that we did because the lines were so long just 30 minutes into the event. We made our rounds and were out of there by 4:30. They definitely need a bigger space next year. All in All not a bad event for their first one! I am sure that next year will be much better!

Matt,

Sounds like a fairly positive and painless experience. Will you buy tickets if Gold Standard returns?

Parked at Target, which was better than waiting for that valet line. We got there right at 3pm, and because we had tickets didn't have to wait for the will call line, which was a majority of the people. What do you expect for will call with 1000+ people.

Since we got right in, we hit up Animal and Mozza first. The lines really didn't bother me all that much, as we would get through them pretty quickly. It gave you time to digest anyway and talk about the previous bites. The Annisette line was a pain, they were moving way toooooo slow preparing the food.

My favorite was Palate. Their pork was much larger and was wonderfully paired with the grits.

Over flowing trash cans were gross and the fact that places were closing up by 6, when the event was going on till 7 was pretty lame.

If they could guarantee enough food for everyone, I think they should do it in two or three waves next year. So that not everyone gets there at once.

... "Next year, they ought to get a room at the L.A. Convention Center where it’s outfitted to handle hundreds of cars and thousands of people"...

I totally agree with you on that. The event was great fun... once we got inside and figured out there was more than one room! Thanks for the photos and post.
