San Francisco-based hotel chain Joie de Vivre plans to replace Venice’s Marina Pacific Hotel with the Hotel Erwin by late June. The Erwin’s website promises to “immerse you in the whirling street carnival that is Venice Beach, a storied enclave of rock-n-roll, bohemian-cool, surfing and skateboarding.” The 119-room beachside property will host two food and drink options. Hotel Erwin’s General Manager Benjamin Malmquist said HASH will employ a “market to table approach” and specialize in made-from-scratch hashes. The space will host a “comfortably chill dining room and patio done in a retro style,” employing a yellow and brown color scheme. Malmquist still needs to hire a chef. ROOF will be the hotel’s rooftop lounge, open in the evenings and beyond. You’ll find handcrafted cocktails and light snacks. Malmquist promises “one of a kind views” that will stretch from Malibu to the San Gabriel Mountains and beyond. You can also look down from the seventh story to see beachgoers and skaters in the impending skate park.
