INTERVIEW CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS PAGE
Where do you see the San Diego beer scene in five years, and how does Mother Earth fit into that vision?
I can’t predict the future, but I hope San Diego will become a craft Mecca like Denver and Portland. I hope Mother Earth Brew Co can play a part in maintaining the highest standards for craft beer and hold a place on the “must visit” list for sojourners to the area.
What’s an aspect of craft beer culture or another city that you would like to see more of in San Diego?
San Diego’s craft beer culture is as good and as desirable as anyone’s, but I would like to see it grow to proportions equal to other top regions.
Is there a brewery or beer that you can’t get in San Diego that you would like to see?
I wish Russian River/Blind Pig would have never left Southern California.
Who are some other people in the craft beer community that you look to for inspiration, guidance or advice?
First and foremost Lee Chase, Tomme Arthur, Greg Koch, Vinnie Cilurzo, Rick Chapman and Jeff Bagby.
What will it take for you to consider your work with Mother Earth a success?
Each time a customer says, “I really respect and admire what Mother Earth is doing,” we consider it as “success.”
