Here’s last night’s update from BottleRock beer expert Alex Macy:

Alesmith Horny Devil should be pouring either by Thursday night or Friday (at the very least). And we will have bottles of the new batch of Alesmith Speedway Stout.

If I were to say anything about these beers, they are from what I think is one of the best breweries in Southern California. Few people are able to make such strong beer, that is still very balanced. Although that might be a good thing, as with that balance it can be easy to drink a little too much before you remember just how strong it is (kind of like Hair of the Dog). I should be getting their Nautical Nut Brown soon, too. That’s one of my all time favorite beers, and it shows that Alesmith hasn’t lost their session beer chops.

    NEW ON TAP

“AleSmith Grand Cru, a strong golden ale. Telegraph Reserve Wheat, one of the only kegs in L.A., a sour wheat ale that isn’t like a Hefeweizen at all. Numbskull’s almost finished.” Stone Cali-Belgique was supposed to arrive today, could hit The Golden State by Tuesday.

    JOHNNY’S BAR
    5006 York Boulevard, Highland Park, 323 551 6959

Here’s last night’s tap update according to co-owner Zac Crandell:

Allagash Curieux (Bourbon Barrel-Aged Tripel): A wonderfully well balanced and obviously well made, quality ale. Pleasant full fruit nose with hints of whiskey; big integrated fruit/hop flavors with refined carbonation and some fresh sweet characteristics. Very pleasant bouron finish. This appears to be a drink that would impress and please most. This will replace the Young’s Double Chocolate Stout.

    Here’s last night’s update from Simmzy’s co-owner Mike Simms:

    NEW ON TAP

Aventinus Eisbock and Black Butte Porter. Karmeliet is out of stock for a bit and Stone Smoked Porter was a lil’ heavy for a summer time porter. We also brought on the Hefe from Einhorn out of San Luis Obispo and Skinny Dip from New Belgium last week. Doug Martin, one of the owners of Einhorn, showed up with some samples and his Hefe was perfect for the hot summer weather.

On Brewery Thursdays, expect $1 off featured brewery pours all night, beginning at 5 PM. Tonight’s featured brewery is Einhorn.
