On deck we have Black Market Rye IPA and Iron Fist’s Renegade Blonde.”

The latest from general manager Micah Schiesel, “We got all the bases covered for you the beer lover, Pliny the Elder, Dogfish 90, Strand Brewing Black IPA, Raging Bitch. Some nice random beers rolled our way, Taps Irish Red, Allagash Vrienden, Iron Fist’s Hired Hand, and a lovely keg of Ale Smith’s Horny Devil. From David Watrous and this new Pico establishment, “Port Brewing hot Rocks Lager, Avery Donny Brook Stout (Nitro), Great Divide Collette (Belgian Farmhouse Ale), Alesmith Horny Devil, Unibroue Blanche De Chambly, Firestone Union Jack, Firestone Pale 31, Firestone Walker’s Reserve Robust Porter, Kern River Class V Stout (nitro), Avery Majaraja, Alesmith Anvil ESB and
Firestone Velvet Merlin.”

Stuffed Sandwich

For the month of April, Marlene Samaniego and husband Sam are featuring seven beers from Rogue Brewing Company from Newport, Oregon, including John John Juniper Ale (Juniper Pale Ale aged in Spruce Gin Barrels), John John Hazelnut Brown Nectar Ale (Hazelnut Brown Nectar aged in Hazelnut Spiced Rum Barrels), Mogul Madness Ale (Seasonal Winter Ale with intense citrus, hops, and hints of nuts, berries and mocha), Brutal Bitter IPA (A cross between a very Extra Special Bitter and an India Pale Ale), 21 Ale (English Style Olde Ale – John Maier has brewed 21 different beers for the last 21 years for the Oregon Brewers Festival. This is the first time the beer has been released in bottles and draft. Only 21 kegs were made – we are proud to have received one of them!), John’s Locker Stock – Charlie 1981 (This beer is named after Charlie Papazian, the father of the homebrew movement in the U.S. It’s a strong ale) and XS Russian Imperial Stout 2009 (This is from their XS series – XStra Special, XStra Strong & XStra Small (in bottles) It’s very robust with hints of chocolate and oats).

The Surly Goat

Per Andrew Kelley highlights include: on tap: Supplication – Russian River (Sour Brown Ale w/ cherries), Lips of Faith Dunkelweiss – New Belgium (Imperial Dunkelweizen) and Three Philosophers – Ommegang (Belgian Quadruple).

Vendome Toluca Lake

Vendome Toluca Lake’s weekly Beer Tasting is from 2-5 pm. Each week has a theme and this Saturday you will be treated to ales from Belgium.

Verdugo Bar

According to Ryan Sweeney at the Verdugo, the following are on tap: Hangar 24 Patio beer, New Belgium 10/10/10, Cismontane/TAPS saison collaboration, Speakeasy IPL. Coming soon are Ovila Dubbel, Bruery Marron Acidifie and Humulus lager, Rogue XS Imperial Stout and Bootlegger’s Knuckle Sandwich.

The York

According to Mary Drenthe at The York, “Our latest draught options include Eagle Rock Populist IPA, Craftsman Honesty Ale, Firestone Velvet Merlin, and Nibble Bit Tabby ESB. On deck for the weekend we have Grimbergen Dubbel, Eagle Rock Revolution XPA, and Flying Dog Double Dog Double Pale Ale on nitro. And of course on cask we’ve got Craftsman Poppyfields Pale Ale. ”

Another Notable Beer Event

On Thursday, May 19, at 7 p.m., Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro at The Grove is hosting its first beer pairing dinner of the season, partnering with one of America’s fastest growing breweries, Stone Brewing Co. The dinner is $65 per guest, plus tax and gratuity, and features pairings like Grilled Bison Tenderloin with Spiced Stout Beer Reduction Sauce and Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale, and Chocolate and Stout Layer Cake with Stone Imperial Russian Stout.
