We are also about a week away from a beer naming contest for Dr. Hops’ newest brew — a light crisp blonde ale with local organic honey. Follow us on Facebook for a chance to name the beer and win a growler.”

Ladyface Ale Companie

From Robyn Britton at Ladyface: “This week’s cask, “Ménage à Trois”, features our Trois Filles Tripel with a citrus trio of bourbon-muddled blood orange, kumquat & lemon. We’ve got a keg of Palo Comado XPA, our first all-organic beer, on right now. It’s single-hopped with Cascade, adding a lovely citrus character. Hemp seeds provide light, nutty notes, and low alcohol makes it a great session ale. Joining the Ladyface ales on tap are Avery Maharajah, Ballast Point Calico, Great Divide Nomad Pilsner and Sierra Nevada Ovila Saison.

We’re releasing the first of our Ingenuity ales, an industrious series of barrel-aged inventions! Trébuchet is a Golden Farmhouse-style ale. We aged our Chaparral Saison in Semler (French Oak) Sauvignon Blanc wine barrels for 7 months. Additions of lactobacillus have created a distinct tartness without a “barnyard” character. The aroma is moderately intense with notes of Belgian yeast, light acidity, and apple skin. Flavor is moderately tart with integrated honey, green apple, and tannin. The ale finishes very dry and lingers long with Belgian yeast tones. 8.7% abv and available this coming Monday, March 12th, which is also Live Music Monday and Cigar & Scotch Night!”

The latest update from assistant manager Josh Salinas: “This weekend we are pouring Speakeasy Ale’s Big Daddy IPA, Strand Beach House, Craftsman Poppyfields, New Belgium Cocoa Mole, New Belgium Biere De Mars, and Hangar 24 Orange Wheat. On deck we have Eagle Rock Populist IPA, Alesmith Nautical Nut Brown, and Telegraph Los Padres.”

Stuffed Sandwich

For the month of March, Marlene Samaniego and husband Sam will be presenting Belgian Tripels and Belgian Style Triples. “Although it is not a Belgian style Triple we have added a very special Triple IPA to this month’s line-up (until the keg runs dry). Please see the last beer listed on the line-up to see what it is!!!

But first a few announcements.

There is a new brewery (two years old) that has made its way to Southern California. We had the privilege of having David and Michael from Epic Brewing Company (Salt Lake City, Utah) visit our shop last Wed. night. They produce over 30 different beers and they brought 14 different ones for us and all our friends to taste. We have chosen to bring in six of their beers (bottle) to start with including a Belgian Style Golden Ale and an Espresso Coffee Imperial Stout.

Here’s this month’s line-up: Brouwerij St. Bernardus Tripel, Brouwerij West Tripel, Mission Brewery Mission Tripel from 2010, Brouwerij Deca Services Westoek X Tripel, Allagash Brewing Tripel, Maredsous 10 Tripel, Scaldis Tripel Blond, Het Anker Gouden Carolus Tripel and Russian River Pliny the Younger.”

The beer list: Mikkeller It’s Alright (It’s Alive’s little brother, this is a dry, sour, and refreshingly low alcohol, Belgian ale); Hanssens Oude Geuze & Oude Kriek (a premium Lambic-Geuze that is a mixture of several vintages along with their cherry lambic); The Bruery Saison de Lente 2010 Vintage (a spring saison with rustic brett characteristics, come taste what two years of bottle aging does); Green Flash Rayon Vert (Belgian style pale ale finished with brett for a more dry character), Logsdon Seizoen Bretta (a new, organic brett fermented saison at Vendome); Anchorage Brewing Galaxy White IPA (ale brewed with Galaxy hops, coriander, kumquats, and peppercorns, bottled conditioned with brett and wine yeast…quite complex I must say); De Proef Reinaert (a wild fermented, authentic Belgian Strong ale); Jolly Pumpkin Noel de Calabaza (not a pumpkin beer… but a Belgian style strong dark holiday ale, with a touch of acidic tartness); 3 Fonteinen Oude Kriek (a fantastic cherry Lambic); Russian River Supplication (arguably one of the best domestically produced, wild brown ales with sour cherries. This masterfully crafted ale is finished in Pinot Noir barrels); Trois Dames Oud Bruin (a sour ale from Switzerland); Haandbryggeriet Krokkebic (sour ale brewed with crowberries, which are berries found abundantly in Iceland); Hanssens Experimental Raspberry (lambic fermented with raspberries and matured in oak barrels)
Panil Barriquée (a finely crafted sour ale from Italy that’s fermented three times and matured in Cognac barrels from France’s Bordeaux region).”
