The hamburger at Louis Lunch is pretty special. It’s served between toasted white bread with or without a raw onion and tomato and cheese. Their hamburgers are utterly fresh, handmade, in their unique two-sided gas broilers – the 1895 originals. The building is a joy – the history of the place is palpable. I’d say the burger at Louis Lunch rates with the best around – it’s extremely simple, but its quality and authenticity puts it in a niche all by itself.
