The former Karma Coffeehouse space is set to become Public House. The burgers and beer concept was supposed to be called Stout, but there’s already a restaurant by that name in Manhattan that might open a branch in Los Angeles. During yesterday’s walk-through with Spacecraft designer Kristofer Keith (Kitchen 24, La Grande Orange Café, BoHo), he predicted that partners Charles Lew and Alex Kagianaris from the law firm KAGLEW LLP are probably looking at opening in 2-3 months, meaning Public House could debut in April or May.

Keith crafted walls and rounded booths from refurbished cedar fencing. You’ll find concrete floors and a circular bar lined with reclaimed bricks. The bar will host several taps and be backed by copper sheeting. Doors will slide open to reveal open air and patio seating. Keith plans to build beer bottle chandeliers, a play on the wine bottle chandeliers he made for La Buca.
