If you’re in San Fran and you need a quick place to stop after a morning Marina walk, try Abigail’s on Greenwich and Fillmore. Upon stopping in, Abigail’s appears to be a small bakery store front, but upon closer observation three steps lead you down to a seating area of about eight or so tables. The walls are brown and white and hold French posters. Our waitress greeted us with icy glasses of water (which was much needed). I was told the steel cut oatmeal was the best. We were presented with a steaming bowl of oatmeal, topped with blueberries and strawberries. The oatmeal was mighty creamy, buttery, and sweet after a dash of brown sugar added in the kitchen. The oatmeal itself was a little ‘al dente’ (more couscous like then Quaker Oat flakes) but the texture didn’t bother me since it was such a creamy delight. It was like a breakfast dessert similar to a rice pudding! To wash it all down, I ordered a large OJ, fresh squeezed (but lacking pulp).
