Flying Pigeon puts their bicycles to good use: dim sum rides.

Flying Pigeon L.A. is a Highland Park shop specializing in a specific style of bicycle popular in Tianjin, China. Every Sunday at 10 AM, Flying Pigeon owners Josef and Adam Bray-Ali lead a leisurely, social ride to the chosen dim sum parlor, which changes every week. This Sunday, September 28, Adam selected Ocean Seafood in Chinatown. The brothers are already on their eighth dim sum ride. It took today’s random poster sighting on an Eagle Rock lamppost to discover their pastime.

Josef said, “We’re not trying to be a comprehensive tour of all the dim places in the county.” The point is to get to know other riders and socialize. Bicyclists of any age are welcome. If you’re looking for a strenuous workout, go elsewhere. “The mileage varies, but we keep it to a mellow route,” says Josef. “The ride is designed to be beginner friendly.” He estimates that it normally takes about 40 minutes to reach the restaurant.

Popular dim sum parlors can get mobbed on Sundays, but that’s not how Flying Pigeon rolls. Adam calls ahead to let the restaurant know to expect a group of 20 people. The manager gladly holds two tables.

Another advantage the Dim Sum Rides: more people = more food.

Thanks for the write-up!

Your post has generated a ton of phone calls for our ride, and interest in our bikes too. We’ve had a great time sampling dim sum so far, and with this much interest it looks like things are only going to get better.
