Tonight, Jason Travi, Thierry Perez and their team held an open house to commemorate the grand opening of Riva, their Italian-focused Fraiche spinoff. Riva’s soft opening lasted three weeks, with no publicity or website. Tonight is the official opening for Riva, which means “seashore” in Italian. From 4 PM – 6 PM, waiters circulated with trays of burrata crostini dotted with balsamic, spoons of salmon and sea bass crudo, skewered meatballs dipped in tomato sauce, fried semolina squares, gougeres, shot glasses of soup and several varieties of pizza, including a white pizza with potato and rosemary and a meatball pizza with tomato sauce and basil. There were even cream puffs accented with fresh cuts of strawberry and kiwi.
On Thanksgiving from Noon to 7 PM, Riva will present a multi-course dinner for $55 per person. Options include sea bass crudo with pink peppercorns and lemon oil, roasted quail with farro, fall squash and pistachio pesto, free-range turkey with braised turkey leg, potato puree and cranberry agrodolce, and sweet potato cheesecake with candied pecans and orange sorbet. A children’s menu is available for $30 per person.
From the beginning of their run, Riva is offering two meal deals. Sunday through Thursday between 10 PM and Midnight, if you present a movie ticket and purchase a pizza, you’ll receive a complimentary draft beer or soda. The same deal is available daily from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, with no ticket necessary. Limit one person per table.
