Tonight we ate at Lucca, the new Tuscan place run by Ken Vedrinski [chef-owner of Sienna on nearby Daniel Island]. It was terrific. We had a bunch of different small plate antipasti and Jane had the hanger steak, Bailey had the pounded pork chop, Tina had swordfish, and I had (of course) chicken under a brick over risotto. We also ordered a pasta to share. Everything was terrific. It’s on a transitional street north of MUSC/Hominy. On Sunday nights they have family style dinners.
This is the first week–yes crowded for a Tuesday night. We talked to [Vedrinkski]–he is planning to move Sienna to Charleston at the Old Cigar Factory, a classic brick factory building on upper East Bay where Johnson and Wales used to be.
