Tupelo Junction Cafe is adjacent to State Street’s classic movie house, the Granada Theater. I’d known about the Southern-tinged restaurant for a couple years, but it finally took a food feature about Santa Barbara from R.W. Apple, Jr. to get me through the door.

Tupelo Junction’s interior features brick walls, wood beams, paintings of different fruits, and watering cans hanging in back.

Fresh squeezed orange juice is presented in a Mason jar, with a side of fresh flowers.

Cinnamon apple beignets was accompanied by creme anglaise.

Mom’s pumpkin oatmeal waffles hosted caramelized bananas, real maple syrup, and candied pecans.

Fried chicken salad featured dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, sweet crumbled cornbread, and herb buttermilk dressing.
