Earlier today, George Abou-Daoud said he hopes to open Mercantile market and wine bar in September, then follow up with District in November.

Then, possibly by January, Abou-Daoud plans to open Rosewood Tavern in the former Fairfax home of Black Sea. The address is 448 North Fairfax Avenue, just down the street from Rosewood Avenue. Larry Rudolph was supposed to open a brasserie called Mec there, but that fell through, and Abou-Daoud stepped in to buy the space, which will likely have a full liquor license. He isn’t ready to discuss details yet.
