From October 27 through November 30, almost every item on Andrew Kirschner’s dinner menu is available for inclusion in a three-course, $39 prix fixe. Only steaks are assigned a supplemental $10 charge. Other than that, anything goes.
Chef Kirschner likes to tweak his menu on a nightly basis to keep pace with the seasons and what’s market-fresh. Still, you might find appetizers like Singaporean style crab cake with black pepper sauce, green beans and cherry tomato; steamed Carlsbad black mussels in a red curry coconut broth; and Thai beef lettuce wraps with chili and garlic sauce.
Recent main courses included miso marinated black cod with crispy rice and shitake mushroom salsa; grilled Kurobuta pork loin with apple and fennel sausage ragout, black kale and polenta; and amb leg with curried quinoa, Japanese eggplant, pickled tomato and cucumber raita.
Pastry chef Jen Shen is the clean-up hitter, delivering desserts like pain perdu with Meyer lemon puree, huckleberries, almond crumble and vanilla ice cream; vanilla cream puffs with chocolate sauce; and housemade ice cream sandwiches – oatmeal cinnamon, chocolate banana and toasted pistachio.
