Los Angeles craft beer drinkers, rejoice! LA Beer Week returns for the third time on October 10 and culminates on October 23 with a blowout festival at downtown’s Union Station from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. In-between, local bars, restaurants, bottle shops and breweries will populate the calendar with sometimes-educational, always-flavorful beer programming.
Festival tickets are currently available for sale and entitle you to unlimited four-ounce tasters from over 70 breweries. Spero Foundation is a non-profit whose mission is to “raise awareness and capital for charities that bring hope to people in need.” This organization is once again the festival’s non-profit partner.
Eagle Rock Brewery is once again home to the official LA Beer Week beer. Last year’s Unity was a California common. This year, ERB co-founder Jeremy Raub collaborated with Craftsman Brewing founder Mark Jilg and event organizers on a different style. The latest Unity batch, an autumn saison with tamarind, is currently fermenting in tanks. Unity will initially be on tap at participating establishments before pouring from taps at the fest.
Restaurants or bars that are interested in participating can visit the website for guidelines. As a member of the LA Beer Week committee, I’m happy to help organizers spread the craft beer gospel.
