On May 15, BottleRock owners Fred and Isaac Hakim opened a second branch on the ground floor of downtown’s Met Lofts. The 124-seat dining room and bar incorporates a mosaic glass bar made from recycled wine and beer bottles. Ernie Roth’s eco-friendly design includes a retail area that runs the perimeter of the restaurant. This summer, BottleRock will offer outdoor seating along 11th Street.
Executive Chef Jared Levy is a New Jersey native who previously worked for Michael Cimarusti at Providence and Kris Morningstar at Blue Velvet. Examples of Levy’s shareable small plates include Pan-Fried Maryland Soft-Shell Crab, Pan-Seared Diver Scallop with Crispy Lamb Sweetbreads and Foie Gras with miso gelee, grapes and Buna Shimeji Mushroom. You’ll also find a rotating selection of cheese and charcuterie.
Floor-to-ceiling cherry wood shelves host over 1000 wines (all available by the glass if you’re willing to commit to two glasses).
Resident beer expert Alex Macy previously worked at Glendale’s Red Carpet Wine and helped organized the recent Craft Beer Fest L.A.. He’s overseeing 14 taps and started with options like Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, Allagash Curieux and Ommegang Rouge. CLICK HERE TO SEE BOTTLEROCK DOWNTOWN’S CURRENT BOTTLES.
