Zaré Baghdasarian is building on the success of ChocolateBox Café by opening a branch at the Malibu Lumber Yard on November 22. You’ll find premium Belgian chocolates from Brussels, Liege and Antwerp, plus Illy espresso drinks, Italian gelato and a dozen flavors of hot chocolate that incorporate molten chocolate shavings and come in flavors like mint, violet, cinnamon, ginger, jasmine and chili pepper.
If savory is more your speed, ChocolateBox also offers sandwiches and salads. Think Beet Salad with endive, walnuts and goat cheese; or The Americano Baguette with chicken breast, oven roasted potatoes, Asiago, arugula, and lemon aioli.
“The relaxed vibe in Malibu epitomizes the heart and soul of ChocolateBox Café,” says Baghdasarian, “a place where novice chocolate lovers, as well as sophisticated aficionados, can enjoy some of the finest chocolates from around the world in a luxurious yet laid back atmosphere.”
The grand opening is on November 22 from 1 PM – 3 PM, when ChocolateBox Café offers complimentary tastes of the aforementioned hot chocolate, plus finger foods, chocolates and wine. The wine is a precursor to possible wine and chocolate pairings in 2010.
