Kris Morningstar Garlic Sausage

Sausage Los Angeles

It was the end of the night, the chefs were hoisting bottles of PBR, and smiles filled every face in the showcase kitchen. This was the triumphant culmination of a three-day stint at Test Kitchen from Kris Morningstar, the talented New Jersey native who recently parted ways with District.

Morningstar is known for generating bold flavors, which were certainly in evidence in the trio of dishes we ate at the bar. My favorite centered on a slab of house made garlic sausage, which he plated with green lentils, roasted Brussels sprouts and a decorative drizzle of pork-y jus. The sausage was nice and firm and didn’t feature an overwhelming amount of garlic. Garlic was in evidence, but it was tempered by a pair of sweet, tangy roasted grapes.

Dose of Vitamin P spotlights my favorite pork dish from the previous week.
