On November 8 at CBS Radford, the 23rd Annual Great Chefs of Los Angeles event features food and wine from some of the city’s most highly regarded chefs and vintners, plus auctions and live music from DJ Mike Palmieri. The purpose: to benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Southern California. Tickets cost $150 per person, but Food GPS is giving away two tickets to the event:

Fightin’ Mad Mary is the big winner.

The theme of this year’s event is “Go Green, Go Organic,” promoting eco-friendly and recyclable products, eco-conscious living, sustainability and organic food. This year’s Chefs of Honor are Mary Sue Milliken & Susan Feniger (Border Grill, Ciudad, Street) and Neal Fraser (Grace, BLD). The Hostess Chef is Candice Kumai, The Stiletto Chef from Lifetime’s “Cook Yourself Thin.” George and Ann Lopez are this year’s benefit chairs.

Great Chefs of L.A. takes place at CBS Studio Center on November 8 from Noon - 3:30 PM.

Here are some of the event’s featured chefs and tastemakers:
• Adam Horton, Saddle Peak Lodge
• Akasha Richmond, Akasha
• Benjamin Ford, Ford’s Filling Station
• Bob Lynn, La Grande Orange
• Brian Moyers, BLT Steak
• Celestino Drago, Enoteca Drago, Il Pastaio & Drago Centro
• Keven Alan Lee, EAST
• Jimmy Shaw, Loteria Grill
• Jorge Chicas, The Bazaar
• Josie Le Balch, Josie Restaurant
• Steven Fretz, XIV

Beverage sponsors include Buttonwood Farm Winery, Duckhorn Vineyards, Frank Family Vineyards, Grgich Hills Estate, Jaffe Estate Wine, Laetitia Vineyard and Winery, L’Aventure, Tequila Ocho and Piper-Heidsieck.

Great Chefs of L.A. consistently draws more than 500 people per year and has raised over $4.5 million for the National Kidney Foundation since the event’s inception in 1987. Help add to the cause.

  67. Don Rose, November 6, 2009:

I want to win, very much so, but if others win that is okay too. I am practicing my Zen approach to life, so this is a great exercise. To win, to not win, and to enjoy each outcome and not get attached. There. Now, that said, I still would love tickets! (I just wont get attached to them, promise.)
